I recently had to re install Big Linux and now for some reason the bottom task bar refuses to stay the way it was at installation. It MUST be centered to look properly. I have no idea what happened but I would like it back to the original settings. Nothing has worked.

Also, with each restart or boot I cannot get online. The icon will circle around and around (as if reading) with no connections. What makes things worse is each time I boot I have to go into restore, reboot THEN I can go online. Every time. This is NOT normal. Before the new update everything was just about perfect. I’m not expecting perfection here but what in the world?

I am using X11 and stay far away from Wayland. I am wondering should I get another ISO image and replace the original install ation on the stick? If so which file should I use? Can someone show me where to find the proper KDE X11 ISO?

I literally had to re install EVERYTHING (games) on STEAM because of the replacement and also many of those games don’t work now. I’m confused. Can someone tell me what happened here? I LOVE Big Linux but all of these issues make me question any more usage for anything.

Someone please help. I think my first thing I would like to do is find the proper distro to install on another USB stick to see if a newer ISO image could make these problems and issues go away. I know for a FACT when I had the older version of Big Linux (before the current update) I never really had any issues.

Try reapplying the theme in Control Center > BigLinux Themes
Maybe switching between them could solve the problem.

I see you’ve already solved the problem, but I would suggest changing the kernel or checking the driver. In this case, you managed to resolve the issue.

I recommend you reconsider using Wayland as default.

All ISOs have the option to start with XORG (X11) or Wayland. There isn’t a separate ISO for that. Additionally, BigLinux is a Rolling Release, meaning there are no versions—there’s only one version, which is BIGLINUX.

I recommend using one of the other storage options to save your games, so this wouldn’t happen. Didn’t you think of that before?

There is no older version because BigLinux is a Rolling Release.

BigLinux has snapshots, which are restore points from previous days. If this ever happens again, you can revert to a snapshot via GRUB or using TimeShift.

UPDATE: Seems I needed to update the wifi driver again. It now comes on at boot. What in the world? Should this happen? Anyway, this issue is now fixed.

Thanks for the reply! I’m happy with keeping my bottom area in the center; works just fine I guess. No real issues.

I literally had to reinstall the entire Big Linux OS and GLAD I DID! What a massive difference with the update! I runs so fast I can barely keep up! BRAVO GUYS! I’m more than impressed with this update!

I have been using snapshots now and keep them up to date. I am seriously considering going from a basic 250GB SSD to a 960GB but have yet to figure out how to copy the entire drive to another one. I’ll get there.

I don’t use Wayland for many reasons and one was the serious boot issues. I’ll stick with X11. Works perfectly and Steam is going so fast it’s bananas! Nice stuff!!!

PS: I have moved 80% of my Steam games to NVMe drives. Wicked fast and no issues. I may have had to reinstall all the games on other drives but it was worth the time and effort. Thanks for bring that up!
